More Spotting Google's Related Searches At Bottom Of Page

Last month, we reported how Google was testing related searches at the bottom of search results pages, which Google's Matt Cutts confirmed in comments on our post. In the past few days, I've seen a flood of further posts about related searches as more and more people spot these.

Yes, they do seem to be more noticeable and frequently appearing. I've been getting them myself over the past two days. You get a series of eight suggested searches as links, under the heading of "Searches related to:" followed by the original word you searched for.

They come up for things like cars:

and running:

and hobbies:

and other queries I've seen.

Hello. I've summarized some info about Google SERPs embedded with links to related searches; if you're willing to take a look, I'll really appreciate it.

Is it possible that Google is showing links to related searches on pages involving a keyword "borrowed" from Google Zeitgeist or is this keyword taken from the daily American English vocabulary? What do you think?

I'va also tried and received results based on "art", "music", "tv" and "computer". At first I thought these results were based on auctionable items, but it seems that these are very different and are similar as popular objects of ambiguity.

For instance, computers can relate to laptops, desktops, industrial, history, products, etc. just as tv can be the product, shows, online tv, and more.

Just my 2 cents.

Related Searches are good for users. They help usres refine their queries and the net result is they're more likely to find what they're looking for. A nice side effect for Google is it also increases revenue. More discussion on this here
