Richard Kimber, managing director of sales and operations of Google South-East Asia, was quoted at the Search Engine Room conference in Sydney as saying: "At this point in time, we are very focused on the software, not the phone."
This echoes recent comments from Google's chief internet evangelist Vinton Cerf. Cerf said that building out a phone would change Google's business model -- Google is in the software business and not the hardware business.
