German Data Protection Commissioner Opposes Google-DoubleClick Deal
German official says 'nein' to Google-DoubleClick deal from News.com reports that Germany's data protection commissioner has come out against the Google / DoubleClick acquisition.
Thilo Weichert, the German official, said the deal would "lead to a massive violation of data privacy rights." He wrote a letter to the European Commissioner for Competition saying that search engines already violate "informational self-determination" by retaining data as long as they do.
