Jerry Yang & Friends Called To Testify On Chinese Dissidents Case
Yahoo execs called to testify about 'false information' from MarketWatch reports that Yahoo's Jerry Yang and general counsel Michael Callahan were told by the House Foreign Affairs Committee to testify on November 6th about Yahoo's involvement in giving information in the jailed Chinese dissidents case.
The statement released by Chairman Tom Lantos said they want the two to discuss:
How the Internet company gave false information to Congress about its role in a human rights case in China that sent a journalist to jail for a decade.
Yahoo released the following statement:
The decision to single out Yahoo and accuse the company of making misstatements is grossly unfair and mischaracterizes the nature and intent of our past testimony. We had hoped that we could work with the Committee to have an open and constructive dialogue about the complicated nature of doing business in China.
