Related Searches Comes To Google News
The Google News Blog announced the addition of "related searches" at the bottom of Google News search results. Related searches are "automatically generated based on an algorithm to determine terms related to your search," said Google.
It might be a good way to learn what is related in the news for a specific topic by just looking at the related searches in Google News. For SEOs and SEMs, related searches in Google News is a great way to expand your keyword research techniques to find more recent topics you might want to write about and target.
I wanted to explore some related searches, so here are a few of my tests.
With all the Yahoo/Microsoft news going on, I thought it would be fun to see what Google News found to be related to yahoo:
Google News says the following searches are related to a news search on Yahoo:
online advertising, google, jerry yang, microsoft, aol, and yahoo mail.
How about the search term search?
We have related searches including search engine, search engine marketing, search and rescue, search warrant, google search, and yahoo. It is nice to see search engine marketing made the list.
Finally, how about a Google News search on danny sullivan?
Some interesting results, don't you think? search engines, wikipedia google, yahoo google, live search club, wikia search, and jimmy wales.
