You Can Search Techmeme
You can now search for past Techmeme articles directly on the site or at http://techmeme.com/search/.
Techmeme's founder, Gabe Rivera, announced the new feature today at his blog. He explained that the Techmeme search engine only searches full headlines on Techmeme, in reverse chronological order but not "discussions" listed under the headlines.
You can search in two primary ways:
(1) Search for title or the first couple of sentences, and
(2) Search for full article text
The default search is by title and first couple sentences, but you can change that option at the Techmeme search page.
You can also use advanced operators, such as a sourceurl:"http://searchengineland.com/" search, to find all of our articles that made it to the Techmeme home page as a full headline.
Other operators include:
- sourceurl:http://www.news.com/otl/ (items from the blog http://www.news.com/otl/)
- author:"Bill Gates" (items by author "Bill Gates")
- sourcename:"Boy Genius" (items from blogs with "Boy Genius" in the name)
- title:unsubstantiated (items with "unsubstantiated" in the title)
- date:10/20/07 (items that appeared on 10/20/07)
- body:"severely polluted" (items with "severely polluted" in the body)
- date:[10/1/07 TO 10/20/07] (items appearing between 10/1/07 and 10/20/07)
- link:http://ma.tt/2008/01/act-two/ (items linking to http://ma.tt/2008/01/act-two/)
As Gabe mentions, Techmeme's first employee and his friend, Omer Horvitz, built the Techmeme search engine.
