The funny thing about PI attorneys is that they struggle with high CPC (over $100 in competitive areas) for the traffic they are trying to acquire but let us say that they acquire 1 client (and settle) with it in a year’s timeframe… and spent 20k to acquire that lead…. in so many cases it would still make sense to run PPC. Great article Chris!

I agree that PPC & SEO work better together. Also experimented with PPC Ads even though we had #1 rankings and saw increase in traffic.

There are indeed wide variations in cost per click, depending on what industry + market locale. Even so, I’m fairly confident that for the majority of businesses there is still a good cost/value proposition. The general guidance won’t work in every case, but it probably works in the majority. I think PPC is great for SMBs. Another reason we encourage our clients to utilize PPC is the flexibility of the messaging, especially with the new Enhanced Campaigns in Google. Sitelinks and offer extensions can be scheduled now and as always, PPC ads can be edited and live within the hour. With this flexibility PPC allows businesses to promote new messaging quickly and easily.
