America’s Fastest Growing Search Marketing Companies

growth-money-treeEach year, Inc. Magazine releases its Inc. 500/5000 list of the fastest growing companies in America. We’re proud to announce that Search Engine Land’s parent company, Third Door Media, made the Inc. 5000 list this year.

Who gets chosen? Inc. says, “The 2011 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2007 through 2010. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007. Additionally, they had to be based in the United States, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2010.”

We were also pleased to note that numerous companies in our own search/online marketing industry made the list. Congratulations and kudos to these companies:

Hey- Just wanted to give a shout out to Rise Interactive coming in at #505! I’m the SEO Manager there, and while we didn’t break 500 this year, I am really proud of the entire Rise team!

I think the data in this article is completely misrepresented by the title. It’s not a list of the fastest growing SEO companies by any definition if it excludes companies founded after 2007 – not to mention those that were not posting profits before then.
If the current year was 2008, I could see the value. But it’s 2011 and an awful lot has happened in four years in the SEO world, as we all know.

@Lesa — actually, it was companies founded (and generating revenue) BEFORE 2007. Then, Inc looks specifically at revenue growth from 2007-2010, thus giving the “fastest growing companies.”

Maybe a better title would of been “America’s Fastest Growing Advertising & Marketing Companies”. A lot of these have nothing to do with search!
