Both google maps and apple maps are horrible in australia. The GPS in both apps are severely delayed and jumps all over the place. This doesn’t seem to be an isolated problem as most people I’ve spoken to have also experienced this. At least Google maps can locate restaurants and streets more accurately than Apple. 90% of the time Apple fails to locate a specific address which I still don’t understand why. When searching for the same address on Google maps it will always find it. I am talking about a search query with no spelling mistakes or errors.

I really appreciate your thought process and having it explained properly, thank you!

I would expect that the SF Bay Area is going to have Apple most mature data. How about doing a comparison in a town where all Apples engineers don’t live? Since Google is also based in the same area this would give your comparison a better feel to what most people experience as we don’t all live in the bay area.

Exactly. This story is making assumptions that it doesn’t have the authority to make. It’s quite pointless.

I totally enjoyed Apple Maps while being in San Francisco but in Russia where I live it is just horrible. It messes up streets so that several crosses nearby one street look like this street crosses itself several times. It’s ok if you are local but who knows where it can take you if you’re not. Google Maps are way better here.

Perhaps worth noting for Apple Maps. Google maps would have never caused this potentially life threatening error
