SearchCap Newsletter Begins Friday & Search Month Open For Signups

The formal launch of Search Engine Land remains December 11. However, Barry and I have decided to kickstart the daily SearchCap newsletter this Friday. You can now also signup for our monthly newsletter, which will now be called Search Month. More on this, plus information on the three different feeds we offer, in the post below. Our Search Engine Newsletters & News Feeds is a new page on the site that covers every newsletter and feed that we currently offer. That's a good place to orient yourself, if you want more beyond this post. Until now, I've had only one email newsletter signup [...]

We Have A Search Engine Land Logo!

I'd like to thank again everyone who helped us narrow down the choices for a Search Engine Land logo. We came to a final decision, shown above. The feedback was incredibly helpful in getting to the final design. Here's a bit more about why we went with it. The top choice in the voting was for a logo that made use of the gears-as-hill metaphor. Gears? Search engines. You know, engines have gears! Hills? Search Engine Land. You know, a place, a land with rolling hills, where the herds of Yahoos and Googles and Lives and Asks and others all run in the wilderness. I know, not everyone gets [...]

Search Engine Land Correspondents Named

I said earlier that I, Chris Sherman and Barry Schwartz would be writing here on Search Engine Land when it formally launches on December 11. They'll be joining us from our launch date and contributing items in their areas of coverage, which are: Phil Bradley: Phil will cover ways of searching the web, new search engines and searching tools and resources, from the viewpoint of searchers, researchers and others who use the [...]

Vote For The Search Engine Land Logo!

I said before that a logo for Search Engine Land was in the works (along with an entire site design -- what you currently see is NOT how the site will look when launched next month). We've bounced around various logos internally and narrowed the field. But I thought it would be fun to see what people in general think. So below are the some of the final logos we're debating. I can't promise that we'll go with the winner of the public poll, but we'll definitely consider it. Cast your vote, plus you can leave a comment below, if you like. Postscript: Thanks, everyone! The poll is now closed. We [...]
