Great read it will be interesting to see how this changes the local scene. It will definitely add more of a pro to SMO for small business clients

Important and logical move for Facebook. Especially when considering the outside US world. This makes it much more urgent for smbs to get their Facebook presences set up and/or in order.

Great! Now I can get second rate local recommendations from a social network, second rate photo filters from a micro blogging service and a third rate social network from a search engine.

This may seem like it competes with FourSquare, but I see it competing more with Local Search
(Google, Bing, Yelp, etc..) IF Facebook can launch
this correctly. What would be better than combining friend’s opinions with other types of information and come up with a decision using one source. Me thinks they better have a good mapping solution in place as well…

Too little, too late from Facebook. I’m sorry to be negative Nancy, but this doesn’t mean squat. Maybe with a better partnership with a manufacturer or OS supplier – but now? I doubt it will have any traction.
