Earlier this week, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that his company would be launching something “awesome” next week. Not just big talk, it seems. A press invite just went out.

There are no details about what Facebook will be covering at the event next Wednesday. We’ll be there and live blogging it, when it starts at 10am.

Perhaps we’ll see the photo sharing iPhone app emerge, which TechCrunch reported on last month. Stay tuned!

Postscript from Greg Sterling: TechCrunch is reporting this event will announce browser-based video chat on Facebook using Skype. If true, and depending on what shows up, it may steal some of Google+’s thunder around the social platform’s excellent Hangout video chat feature.
