Arcor to block Google from heise online reports Huch Medien, the operator of a erotic site Amateurstar.de, has filed in a German court to have Arcor, Germany’s second-biggest telecom company, to block Google because Google Images is showing pornographic content without an age verification test.
Huch seems to be using the action as a way to fight against Germany’s Youth Protection Act, which requires age verification to view pornographic material. Huch has to use this system, so why should sites like Google that can be argued to be showing porn be exempted?
It’s worth noting that the filing probably did not make use of the Google SafeSearch feature, which might have prevented many of the porn images from showing in relation to porn searches.
