The Google AdSense blog has made improvements to the competitive ad filter. The two major changes includes increasing the size of the competitive ad filter list from 250 sites to 500 sites and speeding up the filtering.

The number of sites allowed in the competitive ad filter is clear cut, Google basically doubled the number of sites you can blog. The competitive ad filter tool took several hours to update after a site was added to the list, now the filter updates within 30 minutes. So if you add a site to the filter list now, it will take up to 30 minutes to block those ads, instead of several hours.
