Google Business Photos Expands To Europe & Asia

google-business-photosGoogle announced they have expanded their business photos program into Europe and Asia.

Google Business Photos is a way for you to share the inside of your stores on Google Maps. There are groups of trusted photographers that take the photos for syndication into the program. Now, this is available in more places around the world.

Specifically, seven new countries now support this program including Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Russia, Singapore and Switzerland.

The Business Photos program enables merchants to create 360-degree, interactive tours of their establishments. This imagery is published on Google so potential customers can look inside and explore businesses before they go.

It’s good to see expansion of the Google Business Photo’s programm. It’s very interesting to visit sights abroad via Google Maps and via Google virtual tours. With Google+ and the new Google Maps, the ongoing development will add extra value to virtual tours for businesses. I hope to see custom layers what can be used to integrate extra functionality like custom hyperlinks in virtual tours and Google+ pages. I feel one thing is a pittty: Musea are currently not allowed in the Google Business Photo’s programm because of the Google Art Project (http://maps.google.com/help/maps/businessphotos/faq.html#q6). That programm is also very exploratory but seems to operate with less capacity compared to the Google Business Photo programm so that might limit growth of virtual tours from musea.
