Google Confirms Adding New Image Search Filter Buttons To Mobile

Google Image Search has added large buttons that let you filter your image searches with a press of a thumb on your mobile phone.

Have you noticed that Google Image Search on mobile will sometimes show you large filter buttons for your image search requests? Well, some have, and yes, Google told us they are new.

A Google spokesperson told us the feature was added earlier this summer and confirmed that this is permanent change, not a test.

Here are screen shots of how it works.

Conduct a search on your mobile phone in Google Image Search. Some searches like [wood home siding] will bring up larger finger-press size buttons that let you filter that search further.

For example, in the screen shot below, I am given the option to see these images by stone, brick, cement, metal and so forth:

Then as you filter down, you are given even more options:

You can click the X on the white buttons, the selected options, to clear those filters, as well:
