Google News has added the ability to allow users to “star” news stories. When a user stars a story (or technically, a cluster of stories), it:

  1. Lets Google know that you’re interested in that subject.
  2. Alerts you to significant updates by putting the headline in bold, so you can get more information.
  3. Allows you to follow your 20 most recent starred stories in the “Starred” section of Google News.
