Sick of sites that force you to sit through a Flash splash screen? Now Google’s offering a “Skip Intro” link to save you that annoyance. Plus, Google’s also offering to translate your queries into other languages. More on both, below.
Philipp Lenssen also noticed the Skip Intro option. A search for yuasa france, for example, returns a result that adds “Skip Intro” link next to the listing title. Clicking on the link will bypass the splash screen and take the searcher directly to the home page. Here is a screen capture:
Yoast noticed that when he searched on Google.de for flug amsterdam, up came an option for him to convert his search query to English. The Google search result page offered a link that said, “Siehe übersetzte englische Ergebnisse für: flug amsterdam (Amsterdam flight).”
When I clicked on the “Siehe übersetzte englische Ergebnisse für: flug amsterdam (Amsterdam flight)” link, I was taken to a page that splits the results into a two pane search column. It clearly uses Google Translate to work and on the left I see “Deutsche Übersetzung” and on the right I see “Englischer Originaltext” results. Here is a screen capture:
