Google Testing New Look For Mobile AdWords Ads

google-adwords-square-logoKeep an eye out for a new look Google is testing for mobile AdWords ads.

In the screenshot below, you’ll likely first notice the new eye-catching yellow ad icon next to the display URL.

The bright new label replaces the much more subtle “ad” that rests next to the “i” icon in the current design. The new “Ad” label especially pops because the standard yellow ad background is also gone.

Now both the organic listings and ads are in white boxes that sit in front of a new gray background. The gray background behind the Google logo and search box has been removed.

Here’s a look at the current mobile search results:

    I liked the changes Google is testing.

    I was just annoyed to see a paid listing of Note 3 in second position targeting the keyword “nokia lumia”. Is Samsung trying too hard on advertisement or people are not making search for Samsung mobile products so they have to target audience interested in lumia phones.

    An interesting change. I think this will have a negative impact on CTR compared to the old look. Will be interesting to see how it does.

    This yellow icon has just launched in India for normal desktop search. I guess its a good move from google to clearly distinguish between advertisement and organic search. Though the color choice is kind of strange.
