Insight Into How Google Values Different Link Types

A new video by Google’s Matt Cutts may give us some insights into how Google may treat links from different segments of sites, differently. In the video, Matt explains that Google doesn’t necessarily look to valuing a link from a blog more than a link from a forum. However, Matt does seem to imply that the trust factors they have in the algorithm might appear to SEOs that Google is valuing links from one group of sites as higher than another group of sites.

I am not sure if I explained that so clearly, take a look at the video and then re-read what I wrote and hopefully it will make sense to you. Here is the video:

I thought this video was very interesting…

“Social media is a growing trend and corporate companies still don’t see this as a viable source of links or a way to showcase what they offer. It would be good for smaller companies to get a feel for their market by asking people their views in relation to their product or related services utilising Social Media. I find its becoming more and more difficult to promote good quality companies that have a real vision for helping there communities, other businesses SMEs & corporations without looking like your trying to spam.”

I would like to hear your views on the growing trend of social media and the impact on SMEs in relation to the growth of the internet.
