Keynoting SMX West: Steven Levy, The Man Who Found Einstein’s Brain (& Is Looking At Google’s)

steven levy

Headline grab your attention? True story: Steven Levy, one of our keynote speakers at SMX West actually found Einstein’s brain 22 years after the great scientist’s death.

But that’s not the main reason he’s keynoting—Steven has spent the past two years as an “embedded” journalist at the Googleplex, attending strategy and development meetings, interviewing key people, and closely observing the inner workings of the world’s most popular search engine. Speaking as someone who has visited Google frequently, I can attest that Steven’s access was unprecedented, and even better, he’s documenting his insights in his forthcoming book In The Plex: How Google Thinks, Works, and Shapes Our Lives.

Steven is a prolific author, currently working as Wired Magazine’s Senior Writer. He’s written a number of books, including Hackers, which PC Magazine named the best Sci-Tech book written in the last twenty years. He’s been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s and Premiere, and before focusing on technology was a rock critic at weekly papers, interviewing Bob Marley and Bruce Springsteen, among others.

Come join Danny Sullivan and me at SMX West for our keynote conversation with Steven Levy, discussing Google, its recent management and product development changes and a wide range of other topics and what they mean for search marketers. Steven’s keynote is one of three at SMX West—you’ll also hear from Tristan Walker, Director of Business Development at Foursquare, and Search Engine Land’s own Danny Sullivan on the current state of search marketing.
