Bing announced today a new "Pin to Pinterest" feature that allows users to pin Bing image search results directly to a Pinterest board. According to the Bing Search Blog, the company assembled a group of lifestyle and design bloggers last fall to evaluate their search and social media habits. Bing announced they have made some changes to the Friends Photos search site that lets you browse and search photos of your Facebook friends. Friends Photos launched in August 2012 and several months later gets its first major refresh. Bing has updated its image search today with a new look and some tweaks to its search and discovery features. The first thing you'll notice, aside from the fact that puppies are really cute, is the tight tile-based layout that Pinterest often gets credited for making popular in the past year or so. Bing has announced a new image search landing page that contains the top image searches on Bing. The group of images highlights those top image searches with the use of images, how novel. When you click on an image from that page, you are taken to a Bing image search result. From that page you can narrow down the image search with the various tools on the page. Bing updates the landing page daily. As Greg covered earlier, Bing announced a ton of new features today. One of those features is an improved image search. The first major change is the added tabs for image searches that can have several meanings. Some example searches that would trigger the tabs include [Casablanca], [Apple], [Jaguar] and others. At the Bing Search event in San Francisco today, Microsoft unveiled a dizzying array of nearly across-the-board updates and improvements for Bing online and mobile apps. Microsoft has unveiled Bing 2.0 at TechCrunch50 today, also known as Bing Visual Search, which allows people to "search by picture." After much speculation following Microsoft's annual meeting last week in Seattle, many had expected to see an update to Bing Maps,  integrating  Silverlight technology to display images of local businesses and locations within map search results. Microsoft announced two new ways Microsoft is making Bing image and video search safer to use. The first change Microsoft made was to serve up all adult related images and videos on a new domain, explicit.bing.net. Having the content served from a different domain will help schools and homes set their own safe filters to block out images and videos from that domain. The second change will be that they will serve this data in the referrer information, this way, people who are already filtering content can find this information and better filter based on the source information. Live Search has informed us that they have made a few enhancements to the search engine. The enhancements include an expanded image search index, a new integrated mapping experience with Multimap, a location-based mobile search feature to "find me," and more content for the celebrities and books sections.
