Digg Drops List Of Top Users To Curb Gaming

Kevin Rose, founder of Digg.com, has announced that Digg will remove (still live this AM) the "Top Diggers" list in order to help lower the perceived manipulation of the Digg system by those top diggers. Now, Kevin clearly explains that he does not believe the top diggers were manipulating the system. In fact, he says that the top diggers "are being blamed by some outlets as leading efforts to manipulate Digg." It is because of that reason, Digg has removed the list. As Pronet Advertising shows some top diggers were made monetary offers to help promote content to the home page. More cove [...]

Forget ABCs – The Social Media Alphabet Is DNRS

Many search marketers know their search engine alphabet, A for Ask.com; G for Google; M for Microsoft Live.com and Y for Yahoo. But how many know the important letters of the social media alphabet, D for Digg; N for Netscape; R for Reddit and S for StumbleUpon? Comfortable with AGMY but DNRS seems like another language? Relax. Here are the ABCs of DNRS: Digg Digg is a social news site that covers all topics but is mainly populated with tech, world and business stories. Up Close With Digg Podcasts (& Vote For The Daily SearchCast!)

Neil Patel covered the new podcast feature at Digg in yesterday's story, The New Digg Features Plus, A Submitter's Perspective, but I wanted to take a deeper look at how it works plus maybe entice a few votes for my own podcast, The Daily SearchCast, along the way. Having played with a number of podcast directories over the past year, Digg Podcasts is surprisingly traditional. The main page shows the most popular shows (shows, not individual episodes), similar to how you'll see these at Yahoo Podcasts. Unlike Yahoo, Digg popularity is determined by the number of diggs. As Neil noted, the mo [...]

The New Digg Features Plus, A Submitter’s Perspective

Today, Kevin Rose announced the release of new Digg features. What most people covered in the release were all the cool additions, but no one really talked about the small changes that have drastically affected submitters. Before I dig into these small changes that affected submitters, here is a quick recap of the new features that everyone is talking about: Digg is now made for big widescreen monitors. If you have a large monitor the site will now adjust the content so you can make use of your entire screen. Each section on Digg now has a top 10 story listing on the right si [...]
