Bing Gains Search Share In October: Experian Hitwise

While Bing is happily rolling out new search features, Microsoft can also smile at the latest search engine market share report from Experian Hitwise. Google is still light years ahead of Yahoo, Bing, and Ask ... but Experian Hitwise shows Bing with a 7% increase during October, while both Google and Yahoo saw small drops in search share. iCrossing: Google’s Share Of Search Almost 77 Percent

We received some interesting data from search agency iCrossing yesterday. The data show US search market share percentages and distribution quite different than the major traffic metrics firms. The company says its numbers are "based on a large representative sample of Fortune 1000 companies, across all major verticals," which use its search tracking tools. Google Passes 71% Market Share In Latest Hitwise Survey

Best Search Engine In Canada? Hitwise Says It’s Bing

In a detailed report about the Canadian search landscape, Hitwise says Bing is the best search engine at producing "successful searches," beating out both Google and Yahoo, as well as their Canada-specific search engines. The chart above, provided specifically to Search Engine Land, shows that Bing is the 6th most popular search engine in Canada, but has the best success rate at 78.61%. That's about 2% better than Yahoo Canada (ca.search.yahoo.com), and more than 6% better than Google Canada (www.google.ca). Reports: Bing Users Click More, Search Deal With Yahoo Coming This Week

A report analyzing traffic and click-through rates from ad network Chikita finds that "Bing users are over 50% more likely to click an ad on your site than Google users." What this means, according to the post, is those who arrive at third party sites via Bing click more frequently on ads on those sites than those coming through Google.
