A post by Ashim Chhabra from the Yahoo Boss team in the Tech Group adds some details to how Yahoo BOSS will survive under the Yahoo-Microsoft deal. It appears that Yahoo is allowed to continue operating BOSS under the Microsoft deal. Some of the results will be powered by Yahoo, while the search results in BOSS will be powered from Microsoft Bing. But Ashim explained that BOSS needs to make financial sense to Yahoo and somewhat implied that they are exploring a fee based structure to use BOSS in the future. Yahoo Allows Search Ads In BOSS Via 3rd Party Partner

The Yahoo Search Blog announced that BOSS developers can now add Yahoo Search ads in their search results. This will give developers a way to help monetize the BOSS applications they have built. How do you get ads in your BOSS results? You have to apply for approval by one of Yahoo's 3rd party syndication partners, Domain Development Corp (DDC). You can enroll at signup.ddc.com. BioNumbers – Specialty Biology Answer Search Engine

Today, I met with Dr. Ron Milo who works in the field of plant sciences at Weizmann Institute in Israel, who showed me a specialty search engine project he built from the ground up named BioNumbers. Yahoo Launches “Vertical Lens” Search Through BOSS

Yahoo announced an expansion to the BOSS technology named "vertical lens" technology. In short, this allows developers build their own vertical search engines using Yahoo's search technology, through BOSS. This new technology is replacing Yahoo's old Search Builder tool. Google’s Site Search Gets Faster; Yahoo’s Goes Away

Google has upgraded its Site Search tool to give users more control over the frequency that Google spiders a site.
