Soon, it’ll be time to do the agenda for our SMX Advanced search marketing conference in Seattle this June 5-6. This is always the toughest show to program, because all the attendees expect mind-blowing advanced content (and get it, which is why it sells out each year). I’m looking for help. Got a session idea for the show?
Here’s a reminder of how we generally program our SMX events and how the call for session ideas fits into the process.
First, we do a general call for session ideas, which is happening now. Anyone can pitch a session idea, even people who don’t want to speak.
Got a topic you’d really like to see discussed? Then use our session ideas form to let us know. You can also use the description area to include speakers you’d like to see as part of the session.
When it’s time to make the agenda, we look through the session ideas that have been submitted, along with those suggested by our own conference team and craft a final agenda.
After that, it’s time to start selecting speakers. Some speakers, we already have in mind — we know they’d be perfect for a particular session. We reach out to them directly.
Other speakers we discover as part of the session idea process. If you’ve suggested a great session, you increase the odds of standing out as someone who should be speaking on that topic, if it makes it to the final agenda, assuming you’re a strong candidate.
We also do a general call for speakers, after the final agenda has been posted, and after we’ve gone through all of our short-list candidates. We do this in addition to outreach, because you never know what great speaker you might discover unless you provide a way for them to reach out to you.
Again, if you’ve got a great idea, please let us know using the session ideas form. We’ll be taking suggestions through March 13th.
Also, if you’re thinking about attending, the registration form is now open. Unlike our larger SMX West and SMX East shows in the US, SMX Advanced is a limited capacity event. It sells out every year. Last year, it sold out five weeks before the show happened, the fastest ever. If you want to go, register early. You’ll not only save; you’ll ensure you can get a ticket.
By the way, we also have a variety of other events happening in the coming weeks: SMX Munich from March 27-28, SMX Toronto April 25-26, SMX Sydney May 1-2 and SMX London from May 15-16, which features a special SMX Advanced track as part of the show and the International Search Summit happening the day before.
