Microsoft Adds In-Copyright Books & New Features To Live Search Books

Today Microsoft announced that they have added in-copyright books to Live Search Books. Microsoft said they have only included books that their publishing partners have given permission to include.

In addition, Live Search Books upgraded their design to enable two pane browsing of books. On the left pane are book details with “search inside the book” features, while on the right pane is the book itself. Microsoft says this “makes it easy to scan and preview search results.”

Some of the features include: - Cover image - Summary of the book - Table of contents previews (where available), - A hit density map - A page preview counter - Search for specific keywords - View full pages or zoom in - Flip through page by page - Link to the book’s Table of Contents

The publisher partners include: Academic Resources Corporation, Amherst Media, Bearport Publishing, Cambridge University Press, Edward Elgar Publishing, Harrison House Publishers, Harvard University Press, Hazelden Publishing & Educational Services, Institute for International Economics, John Wiley & Sons Publishing, Lerner Publishing Group, MBI Publishing Company, McGraw-Hill Companies, Microsoft Corporation, MIT Press, OECD, Osprey Publishing, Oxford University Press, Pearson Education, PREP Publishing, Rodale, Rutgers University Press, Simon & Schuster, Springer, SUNY Press, Taylor & Francis Group, The Perseus Books Group, The World Bank, University of Massachusetts Press, Wheatmark, Wilderness Press, World Health Organization, World Scientific Publishing Company, World Wisdom, Yale University Press.
