Microsoft Live Search Adds More Images, Multimap, Find My Location, & Celebrity Rank

Live Search has informed us that they have made a few enhancements to the search engine. The enhancements include an expanded image search index, a new integrated mapping experience with Multimap, a location-based mobile search feature to “find me,” and more content for the celebrities and books sections.

Here are some more details:

  • Increased image index – searching for images is now faster with Live Search because images are organised into one page so you don’t have to keep clicking “next page” to see more. Live Search is also expanding its Video search offer to let you browse and share videos from across the web.
  • New integrate mapping experience, Multimap from Live Search – Live Search now offers more accurate local information, maps, and directions, with richly detailed aerial photographs and Bird’s Eye imagery from Virtual Earth integrated into map searches.
  • New location-based mobile search – “Find My Location” in Live Search on your mobile identifies a user’s location and finds the nearest local businesses like restaurants and cinemas, as well as directions on how to get there. We covered this feature in more detail a few days ago over here.
  • Expansion of specialised content areas – Celebrities & Books: Celebrity Rank is a new entertainment experience within Live Search that charts celebrities and ‘news makers’ by the total number of daily web searches they receive. Live Search books provides free access to out-of-copyright content to all internet users and allows people to search online to find answers from authoritative and trusted books.
