MSN has been in 3rd for a long time, though they've been working at growing their share of the pie. Yahoo - who's past management actually stated they were happy as # 2 - needs a lift they don't seem able to come up with. I think MS has deep enough pockets to complete the deal - it's more a matter of does it make sense to do so? I don't really know, but I do like the idea of one larger competitor to Google. I feel Ask.com has the potential to steal thunder from everyone, but they are so far behind and lacking in profits, that's it'll be along time before they catch up and become a serious top 3 contender, IMO.
