Rumor: Additional Cuts Coming To Yahoo

AllThingsD and, picking up on that post, Silicon Alley Insider speculate about potential, forthcoming job cuts at Yahoo to streamline consumer-facing and ad-focused business units.

Yahoo has seen many high-profile departures in its executive and middle management ranks. Despite this, macroeconomic trends may be driving the hypothetical cuts; the US economy is in recession and online is feeling it. Yahoo’s Q2 revenues were flat and income was down.

If Yahoo does wind up laying people off they will potentially lament the fact that the Microsoft deal didn’t go through, where some would have received generous severance packages (i.e., “golden parachutes”).

I stress that all of this is rumor and speculation at this point.
