    It’s not just flights!

    Google will be aggressively going after the accommodation space too in 2014. Just before Christmas I was speaking with a UK based super affiliate in the travel space and apparently they were approached by Google early last year for large amounts of historic travel data. We’ll see live hotel data integrated further with Maps / Google+ along with some more partnerships in the package holiday space. It happened with affiliates in other verticala such as insurance, credit cards… it was only a matter of time.

    Lead Generation companies or value add comparison sites have known Google would encroach on their market for years. Google is now in competition with and will certainly crush the very businesses that were core to their dramatic growth in the 2000′s. Makes you wonder what they will do when 100 million data ants are running around with Google glass unwittingly indexing the world for them?
