Thanks to all of you who completed the first Search Engine Land reader survey! We’re still tallying up the results, but here are a couple of top-line stats you may find interesting:

  • Nearly 30% of you work at a search engine marketing firm or full-service advertising agency; more than 25% of you work for a company as a search marketer.
  • Where did the time go? Nearly 65% of you said you’ve worked in search marketing for more than 3 years, nearly 40% said more than 5 years!
  • And for our prospective advertisers, 85% of you said you approve, recommend or authorize purchases for your clients or companies.

We’ll post more of the information about our readership to the Search Engine Land advertising page in a couple weeks when we’re done crunching the numbers.

Congratulations to Melissa Mackey, the winner of the ticket to our first Search Marketing Expo (SMX) in Seattle in June! Melissa is Search Marketing Director for MagazineLine in Okemos, Michigan, and has been responsible for PPC and SEO at MagazineLine since 2002. Melissa also writes the Searching Beyond the Paid blog. Melissa, we look forward to meeting you at SMX!

For those of you who didn’t win, more detail about SMX Seattle is available at the Search Marketing Expo site. Register today and save $400 off the full price, a discounted rate we’re offering “first movers” who support this inaugural event. Space is extremely limited!
