So then it sounds like it’s more likely Google will go the OpenMoKo route, produce a GSM phone that can be used on a handful of networks, *possibly* get cozy with sprint, then buy the 700 Mhz spectrum and establish mobile hegemony.

If it’s not evil, it’s definately clever, abeit disorganized.
