NeeTeeVee reports that YouTube is now defaulting videos that contain ads to show post-roll ads. In the past, YouTube would only show the ads if those inline ads were clicked on. But now, when the videos end, they should show a post-roll ad.
Greg reported earlier that Google would try preroll ads on YouTube as a way to better monetize the site. I guess Google did not want to take it all the way, and decided to first start with postroll ads.
YouTube started with video ads with an inline ad format in May 2007. Then moved to transparent video overlays in August 2007. Then pushed those video overlays more in November 2007.
