Good morning, Marketers, it’s been almost two weeks since the Google helpful content update started to roll out and I will say it: I was wrong.

Google’s helpful content update was not as big as I expected (at least, at the time I’m writing this). Sure, the update hit some sites hard. But overall, this update was not even close to as widespread as the early Panda or Penguin updates. It was not even as widespread as the core updates and product review updates.

So I was wrong, I thought, based on my conversations with Google, that this update would be much more widespread and impact many more websites that it has so far. Although, the update is not yet done rolling out – so maybe Google will surprise us?
