This week Twitter announced a new Official badge, meant to verify the identity of brands and creators. How is this different from the blue checkmark? Good question. The blue checkmark (previously used to verify the identity of brands and creators), was then going to be used to identify Twitter Blue subscribers, those who pay $8 a month for “premium” services.

Yesterday, in an entertaining but not surprising turn of events, Musk decided to kill the Official badge. Why? We suspect he may have caught wind of the confusion, jokes, and overall sense of bewilderment that Twitter users were feeling in response to the chaos changes. Let us know what you think.
