Bing’s Top Searches In 2014: Kim Kardashian No. 1 Most Searched Celebrity

If you were searching for a celebrity on Bing this year, there’s a good chance you were looking for Kim Kardashian.

Using data from Bing Trends, the site released its most popular searches of 2014, listing everything from top celebrity, athlete and news story searches to the Top Ten ice bucket challenges, and vacation destination searches.

Women dominated Bing’s list of most searched celebrities, taking eight of the top ten spots. Kim Kardashian ranked No. 1, while her little sister broke into the top ten this year at No. 8.

  3. Miley Cyrus
  4. Katy Perry
  5. Justin Bieber
  6. Joan River
  7. Jennifer Lopez
  8. Kendall Jenner
  9. Kaley Cuoco
  10. Robin Williams

Bing 2014 most search celebrities

It was a big year for sporting events, with the World Cup, Super Bowl and Winter Olympics all making it into the top five for most searched news stories.

  2. Super Bowl
  3. Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet
  4. Winter Olympics
  5. The Rise ISIS
  6. Ray Rice Controversy
  7. Shooting in Ferguson, Missouri
  8. Ebola Outbreak
  9. Brittany Maynard Death with Dignity Debate
  10. Ukraine Conflict

The top ten most searched athletes included only two females, and one ex-Kardashian with Lamar Odom ranking No. 3. Of the top ten most popular athlete searches on Bing, nearly half were football players.

While Kim Kardashian knocked Beyoncé down a rank from last year’s most searched celebrity list, Queen Bey reigned No. 1 in the most searched musician category for 2014.

Other top searches included Eva Mendes and Ryan Gossling’s daughter Esmeralda for most searched celebrity births, President Obama for most searched political movers and shakers, and Costa Rica as the most searched vacation destination.
