Today comScore released US mobile subscriber and market share data for February. The data are based on a survey of 30,000 US users over age 13. The metrics firm said the Verizon iPhone was “the most acquired handset in the month of February.”

According to comScore 69.5 million people have smartphones, representing 29 percent of all US handset owners. Nielsen shows 31 percent with smartphones in the US.

Saumsung was the most popular handset maker and Android was the most popular mobile operating system. The only two mobile operating systems that gained share during the three month period reflected were Android and Apple’s iOS. RIM, Microsoft and Palm all lost share according to comScore.

In terms of “mobile content usage,” browser access to the mobile internet was up just over 3 percent, as were app downloads.
