A federal judge has ruled Google is a monopoly and has violated antitrust laws. Judge Amit Mehta found Google violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act. The remedy phase will follow: Will Google be broken up? Will Google have constraints put on its search and ad business? That is all to be determined.
The judge focused especially on its deal with Apple making Google the default search provider on the iPhone and iPad. Plus, Google’s own mobile operating system, Android.
