Good morning, Marketers, YouTube has admitted to intentionally making its site slower for people using ad blockers.
Rumors were swirling that the deliberate five-second delay in loading video pages was just affecting those using Mozilla’s Firefox, but YouTube has now confirmed it doesn’t matter what browser you’re using; if your ad blockers are activated, brace yourself for a slower website.
It’s all part of the platform’s mission to either force people to watch ads or pay for its ad-free premium service – a campaign that seems to be intensifying by the week. With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see what move YouTube is planning next.
