ChatGPT’s search engine can grab 1% of search market share by next year, new data suggests. “For the first time we can see a trajectory where ChatGPT could cross the magic 1% market share threshold sometime next year,” according to Jim Yu, founder and executive chair of BrightEdge.

Having new search engines compete with Google is a good thing. It could help reduce Google’s power and make Google work harder to improve the relevancy of its search results.

With OpenAI opening up ChatGPT Search to more users, this has real potential to become a serious player.
