Good morning, Marketers, Jerry Dischler, the executive in charge of Google Ads, has quit.
The move comes just weeks after he testified at the federal antitrust trial that Google manipulates the auctions it uses to sell search ads, increasing the cost of ads and reserve pricing by as much as 5% – in some cases, 10%!
Google insisted to Search Engine Land that Dischler’s resignation has nothing to do with the trial and was completely his decision. After working in ads for 15 years, he supposedly just fancies a “new challenge” – whether or not that next chapter is with Google remains to be seen.
The long-time Googler has been replaced by Vidhya Srinivasan, who previously led product and engineering for ads. More information is expected to follow. Stay tuned!
