Google AdWords Testing Nearby Store Reminders For Google Now Users

With the tap of an AdWords ad extension, Google Now will set reminders for users to visit an advertiser's location the next time they are nearby.

Google Now users can now set reminders to visit a store the next time they’re in the vicinity, right from some AdWords ads.

Jennifer Slegg at The SEM Post spotted the new “Remind me when I’m nearby” automated extension test in the ads of several large retailers, including Macy’s, on desktop search results:

Clicking or tapping on a location-based store reminder brings up a Google Now card like the one shown below, taken from a Google help page that Slegg found. The card shows a reminder is set to trigger when the user is near one of the retailer’s stores.

Slegg has added additional screen shots of retailer ads appearing with the “Remind me when I’m nearby” extension (not an official name) and says she has only seen the ads on desktop at this point.

To my knowledge, this is the first integration between Google AdWords and Google Now cards. We’ve reached out to Google about this test and will update here with any additional information.
