Google My Business iOS app now lets business owners manage holiday & special hours

Google has updated the iOS version of their Google My Business app to let you set holiday hours, but the app seems to have frozen for me.

Google just released an updated version of their Google My Business app for iOS. The biggest new feature is the ability of business owners to change their hours of operation temporarily for a holiday or special event directly in the app.

In the past, you were able to manage these special hours via the Google My Business web portal and/or via uploading a spreadsheet with special hours.

Other new features in the iOS app include:

  • a drag-and-drop menu to change your primary business category and phone number;
  • a quick and easy way to mark whether or not your business is permanently closed; and
  • new support for landscape mode in the app.

I personally updated my app, and when I try to open it, it freezes out and won’t let me in. There may be a bug with this update, and we’ve reached out to Google to confirm.

Postscript: It looks like Google has pulled the iOS app from the app store. I guess I was right, there is a bug.

Postscript 2: Monday, April 11th, a new version was posted to the App store that fixes the issue.
