New Bing Feature Lets Users Pin Images To Pinterest Straight From Image Search Page

Bing announced today a new “Pin to Pinterest” feature that allows users to pin Bing image search results directly to a Pinterest board.

According to the Bing Search Blog, the company assembled a group of lifestyle and design bloggers last fall to evaluate their search and social media habits. Based on the results of the evaluation, Bing created the “Pin to Pinterest” feature to help the lifestyle and design community overcome common challenges when searching for original, high resolution images.

Users can pin images directly from a Bing image search to a specified Pinterest board without having to install a bookmarklet. The images are automatically linked to the original source with the proper attribution included.

Now that is a cool new feature. I would say Bing has got one up on Google and Yahoo! with that addition.

Will they also be providing a tool that automatically alerts artists and photographers when their work is illegally uploaded to Pinterest, and sends Pinterest the DMCA notice informing it of the copyright violation?

Will Bing webmaster tools provide a handy section telling you how many illegally pinned copies of your original work, uploaded to Pinterest, are now outranking the originals in the SERPS?

Will they provide a convenient tool showing you all the blogs and third party sites using Pinterest embed codes to display your copyrighted images without attribution, thus exploiting your work to drive traffic and make money off of it?

Maybe Bing should also add a button for scrapers so they can add textual content to third party websites. Oh, and they can add a bittorrent “upload this to bittorrent” too.
