Pierre De Fermat

Google is celebrating the life of Pierre de Fermat, born 410 years ago today in 1601 Beaumont-de-Lomagne, France. He lived for 63 years, dying on January 12, 1665 in France. He was a lawyer but most well-known for his breakthroughs in math.

Pierre is most well known for the Fermat’s Last Theorem, which states that no three positive integers a, b, and c can satisfy the equation an + bn = cn for any integer value of n greater than two. But he is also known for his work in Number theory, Analytic geometry, Fermat’s principle and Probability.

This is a fitting Google logo, aka Doodle, for Google. As most of your know, Google is extremely math and science driven. To remember an individual that had such a great role in the future of mathematics is a great thing to see from Google.

The Google Doodle has a invisible note behind it, which reads, “I have discovered a truly marvelous proof of this theorem, which this doodle is too small to contain.” Which may be the reason why one person complained the math in the Google logo seemed inaccurate.
