Hitwise reported new search market-share numbers yesterday and this morning financial analysts are offering an early peak at comScore’s February search share numbers. I’ll start with comScore for February (see update below):

  • Google: 65.4 percent
  • Yahoo: 16.1 percent
  • Bing: 13.6 percent
  • Ask: 3.3 percent
  • AOL: 1.7 percent

Here are the official January comScore data:

Bing saw its largest share to date, according to the second-hand comScore data. Hitwise numbers on Bing basically agree, showing the Microsoft search engine with 13.5 percent of query volume. Hitwise also showed Google losing roughly two percentage points of share month over month:

Bing-powered search was 28.5 percent of all queries for February according to Hitwise. Longer queries were down according to the company. I haven’t been looking at this since the introduction of Google Instant but I wonder if that’s the explanation.

Postscript: This afternoon comScore released its official numbers, which are consistent with those reported above.
