Google plans data centre at old Finnish paper mill from Reuters reports Google purchased a Finnish paper mill from Stora Enso for $51.7 million dollars as a possible place to put a new data center. Google told Reuters, “We are currently considering to build a data centre at this site.”
The location is in southeastern Finland, where part of the land will be transferred to the city of Hamina for other purposes. Stora Enso closed down the mill in early 2008, which has been in operation for 53 years. The deal is suppose to close by the end of first quarter 2009.
