Google Fixing URL Bug In Google Maps

Google is aware of, and working on a fix, for a bug in how it displays business URLs from Google Maps.

As SIM Partners reported yesterday, local business listings on are showing links to — the URL for the business’ old Place page — rather than showing links to the business’ website.

Here’s a screenshot from SIM’s blog post showing a search for “chicago restaurant,” with five of the seven businesses having Google Maps links:

A Google spokesperson gave us this statement today:

We’re currently experiencing a technical error affecting a limited number of links for our local listings. We’re aware of this error and are working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Indeed, as I type this, only two of the seven businesses still have Google Maps’ URLs associated with their names.
