That’s what you’ll see when you search Google Maps for coffee in Seattle. Instead of plotting just the first 10 results on the map, Google will show dozens of red circles — maybe hundreds. That may not be enough, in fact, because the Google announcement is titled “1,000 is the new 10.”
The announcement has several other examples, such as dancing sydney, wine New York, and even snow removal USA.
All of the red circles are clickable, essentially giving many more local businesses first-page exposure on Google Maps. But the text display next to the map will continue to show just the first 10 businesses. The local SEO in me needs more time (not to mention a good night’s sleep) to think about the ramifications of this … but my first reaction is just wow! At first I thought this was terrible but if all the locations are clickable then that may not be so bad. Could come in handy for Hamburger (double double) searches. :)
